On January 31, 2017, the Institute for Education celebrated the bipartisan effort to tap into the country’s technology expertise and promote an open government. Republicans and Democrats joined IFE’s Innovation Team in advocating for collaboration, soft diplomacy, and common ground.

The reception was graciously hosted by the Ambassador of Colombia H.E. Juan Carlos Pinzón with special guests Matt Lira (Senior Advisor at the Office of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy), Macon Phillips (Former Digital Strategist to President Obama & Secretary Kerry), and Aneesh Chopra (Former U.S. Chief Technology Officer). The Institute for Education plans to host more Open Government events on regular basis. Also in attendance were Academy Award winner Rob Cook, the Honorable Dr. R. David Edelman, John Paul Farmer, Michael Kratsios, Gerrit Lansing, Nick Sinai, Ambassador Kirsti Kauppi of Finland, Ambassador Réka Szemerkényi of Hungary, and Ambassador Dr. Hamdullah Mohib of Afghanistan.
