On April 25, 2017 the Institute for Education held the second-ever Open Government Reception, graciously hosted by H.E. Geir H. Haarde at the Icelandic residence. The event brought together technology leadership from the White House and Capitol Hill in the spirit of collaboration. Former Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer Cori Zarek was presented with the first-ever Institute for Education Open Government Award for her creation of the Open Government Partnership, a multilateral initiative that encourages governments to empower citizens, promote transparency, and harness new technology, thus giving people access to the proceedings of their government.

Thank you to hosts Matt Lira, Aneesh Chopra, Gerrit Lansing, Macon Phillips, Rob Cook, and all who participated. Thank you to Ambassador Haarde and Inga for the wonderful Icelandic delicacies and shots of Brennivín! Guests also enjoyed the demos of Microsoft HoloLens, a unique AR experience. Make sure to like and follow the Institute for Education on Facebook and Twitter.
