“I really don’t want to leave, want to spend a lot more time with these absolutely wonderful kids and committed and visionary teachers and management. Wish the Institute glorious year ahead!” ~Dr. Sadhana, Direct, Academic, Research, Training and Innovation, CBSE

This Summer the Institute for Education’s (IFE) interns will travel to the foothills of the Himalayas and work with one of its many international partners, Purkal Youth Development Society and its founder  G.K. Swarmy.    The Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS) mission is dedicated to enhancing the lives of disadvantaged rural youth through education. While doing so the children are to be sensitized and helped to preserve the beautiful Himalayan environment and the local cultural traditions. PYDS has received recognition from GiveIndia, Samhita Foundation, and the Charity Aid Foundation. An article about us was published recently in the leading education magazine Education World.

PYDS have been lucky to have the support of dozens of volunteers from around the world, many of whom also return on a regular basis to collaborate with us, in addition to helping with fundraising back home. One of these group is the Institute for Education who will sending a team of high school students to work onsite in the small village of Purkel. Typically IFE interns split their day between physical tasks improving facilities and hands-on involvement with students tutoring, playing games and other activities. Please check back in August for updates on our interns experience and photos.

Recently while visiting the school Mr. Vineet Joshi, the Chairman of the National Board for Senior School Education (CBSE) commented: “Wonderful lifetime experience. It’s just out of the box. The best school I have ever seen. All the best. Please keep it up.”
