IFE MTR dinner with special guest Frank H. McCourt, Jr.

The Embassy of Ireland and the Institute for Education will welcome Frank H. McCourt, Jr., pioneering Internet reformer, business leader, and author of Our Biggest Fight: Reclaiming Liberty, Humanity, and Dignity in the Digital Age, to an intimate Media & Technology (MTR) dinner with leading voices on the issue.  The dinner will discuss the major changes underway — including McCourt and Project Liberty’s “People’s Bid” for TikTok, aiming to purchase the Internet’s hottest social media platform from its Chinese parent company as recently mandated by U.S. law and its role in imagining an Internet with users and their rights at the center.  By invitation only.

“Our Biggest Fight: Reclaiming Liberty, Humanity, and Dignity in the Digital Age” is a book by Frank H. McCourt, Jr. and journalist Michael J. Casey. It argues for building a healthier and more equitable internet that frees users from Big Tech’s exploitation, recognizes individuals’ rights to their data, safeguards children, and prioritizes the common good. The book highlights the crisis caused by a centralized system controlled by for-profit entities and calls for action to embed core values of a free, democratic society in the internet of tomorrow.
