IFE to host tour of UW Baker Lab
IFE’s Coach Kemper, Nobel Laureate David Baker, and Jim Valentine Tech Bio Fellow Jeremiah Sims will host a private tour of the Baker Lab • UW Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The Baker Lab develops protein design software and uses it to create molecules that solve challenges in medicine, technology, and sustainability. They continually improve our protein design methods by iterating between computation and laboratory experiments. This tour is by invitation only.
About our hosts:
Nobel Laureate David Baker is a professor of biochemistry, HHMI investigator, and the director of the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The Baker Lab develops protein design software and uses it to create molecules that solve challenges in medicine, technology, and sustainability. Among his recent work is the development of powerful machine-learning methods for generating functional proteins. Hear from David Baker as he explains his Nobel Prize research on protein design.
Jim Valentine TechBio Fellow: Jeremiah Sims is an MSTP student at the UW, where he uses computational tools to make potent, broadly neutralizing antivirals.
