Remembering my friend & mentor, Mr. Secretary

IFE wouldn’t be the IFE without former Secretary of State George P. Shultz. He was one of our first supporters, even before IFE was officially founded in 1992. I started coaching him in tennis in 1982, and in return he coached me in the world of policy and leadership. Over the years, after IFE was well established, he continued to be there for me, as a mentor and friend.

He was also a great athlete. His first love was football, but he picked up tennis quickly. As he got older, and spent more time in California, he played more golf. It’s poetic that he passed away on Super Bowl Sunday.

He will be missed by many in the world who knew him well.
